In the first half of the XX century, the name “Frisbee” to this game was given by students at a university in Connecticut, who in their free time from studies tossed tin pizza coasters from a nearby bakery with the same name. The inventor of the plastic disk itself was Walter Morrison, who spent more than five years trying to perfect its shape for ease and range. And finally, in 1958, the Frisbee was patented by Wham-O. At that time, one letter in the name “Frisbee” was purposely changed so that the Frisbee Pie Company could not challenge it and make any future claims. Walter Morrison received royalties for using the name “Frisbee” for thirty years in Utah, where he lived all his life and passed away in 2010. The most popular variation of the game of Frisbee was Altimat Frisbee. This game is so loved by people around the world that in 1983 it was decided to hold the first World Championship.

Frisbee is a lightweight plastic disc of special aerodynamic shape with curved edges for outdoor games, which can be launched dozens of meters forward. In our country Frisbee is also called “flying disc” or “flying saucer. Usually the size of the flying disc does not exceed 20-25 cm. The disc is made in such a way that in flight it creates a lifting force that allows the projectile to be launched over long distances.
Frisbee disc is a simple toy, which differs only in color, printed pattern and material of which it is made. Colors and patterns are so different that you can pick up a flying saucer, as a kid and an adult. For children are made monochrome and bright plates with pictures of favorite cartoon characters: Spiderman, Cars, princesses, kittens and puppies.
The flying saucer is made of silicone and can be used not only outdoors, but also at home. Frisbees of this brand have several levels of hardness from 1 to 5. Hardness levels 1-3 are designed for children, stiffer models are aimed at teenagers and adults. Silicone material makes the toy safe to hit with any object, person and even windows. How to play?
The essence of the game is for two or more players to throw a plate to each other and the plate, in turn, does not touch the ground. Frisbee is designed for outdoor games. For example, the flying saucer Disceez has a boomerang function, launching the disk upwards at an angle of 45% on the street, it returns to the player. Such a flying saucer is not recommended for games with animals. The easiest way to play Frisbee is simply to throw it to each other, so that it does not fall to the ground. Accordingly, the loser is the one who did not catch the disc. There are many games, the rules are more complicated. The most common are: altimat, gatz, freestyle, dog frisbee. In a game such as Ultimate Frisbee, two teams of 77, 55, 33 or 22 play on a large rectangular field. One team is the attackers and the other is the defenders. The main task of the forwards is to pass to their player who is in the opponent’s zone. The task of the defending team is to knock down or take the plate from the opponent, or make him keep the disc in his hands for more than 10 seconds. It is not allowed to move around the field with the disc, only one player of the defending team may hinder the player with the plate. It is strictly forbidden to use physical force against an opponent – pushing or blocking movements. The spirit of the game of altimat is, above all, respect for your opponent. Freestyle is a single performance with a disc. The goal of the game: it is necessary to demonstrate beautiful and spectacular tricks using the plate – unwinding disc on the finger or rolling it over your hands and shoulders. In freestyle competitions, the complexity of tricks judged by the judges, not a small role is also played here by the artistry of the athlete. Dog frisbee is a game with dogs. The owner throws a plate and the loyal dog must catch it.
